Welcome to Saw Mill Club's new 3.5 team!

Email is sooooo yesterday! So I have decided to blog about our team this season. Want to know the location of our next match? You'll find it on this blog. Want to know the scores of the last match? Every week I will post new information about our team, individual players, practice times, and most importantly, where to meet for drinks after our matches!

Here's what is going on this week, April 25-May 1:
1. If you haven't ordered your uniform, make sure you stop by the SMC pro shop and place your order. The best way to do this is to print out the uniform selection tear sheet I emailed to you, circle the top or tops you want, plus the skirt, put your sizes, name and member number on the sheet and hand to a pro shop employee. You should have your uniform in a week, and hopefully on time for our first match. Keep in mind when ordering, the uniforms are running small. I wear a 10 bottom and a 12 top, and after trying on a sample in the pro shop had to order a large in both the top and bottom. When playing on a SMC team, you get a 20% discount on uniforms, so make sure you remind the pro shop employee that you are on the Spinderella's and you should see the discount on your SMC bill.














2. Our practices are Monday mornings from 11:00-12:30 in the bubble and on Monday nights from 6:30-8:00, also in the bubble. We are having great turn-outs for the practices, and I hope this continues throughout the season. Our coach, Jacques, is also looking into getting another court on another day for additional practice time. I will let you all know when and where.

3. Partnering: Jacques and I would love to have everyone at practice on Monday so we can begin practicing with partners. The sooner we begin playing with our partners, the more prepared we will be for our first match on May 12. If you are a singles player, please come to practice so we can continue our scramble. If you have not practiced singles yet, (Lisa, Cindy, Orna), it's important that we have you there on Monday. We have quite a few singles players (yeah!), and we need to see you in action!!

4. Pressure: We all feel it when playing competitive tennis, but I want to minimize your worries. I started this team because there were so many new players moving up to the 3.5 level, and without a new team, many of us wouldn't get any playing time. Most of our team has not played 3.5, and we are hopeful to have a successful season, but want you all to see this year as a learning experience. Hopefully our amazing tennis skills, along with a little luck, some strategic game play and a positive attitude will win us some matches, but if you lose a match, we'll still be your team mate, friend and ally. Tennis should be fun, and that is what the Spinderellas are all about.

5. Match schedule: Please let me know as soon as possible if you can't play in any of the matches.
